Pitcher Plant
$40.00 - $60.00
This is a painting of one of the most beautiful, strange and unique flowers to ever catch my attention during my summer hikes in Newfoundland. With its unusual shape and vivid purple and red tones, the Pitcher Plant already looks like the type of flora you don't want to be messing around with. So it comes to no surprise that it is a carnivorous plant, feasting on bugs and insects. Adding more to its menacing and savage charm, it has been chosen as the emblem and official flower of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, making it the most unusual of Canada's official flowers. In my humble opinion, it deserves all the recognition it is getting. In this painting, the background shapes perfectly complement and mimic the shape of the plant, while the vivid blues and greens accentuate the colors of its petals. This is a painting that has a very special place in my heart.
