I have still to witness Hopewell Rocks at night so my goal with this painting was to let my imagination take me wherever it wants in order to bring out its sheer beauty and magic. I envisioned it under the emerald canopy and illuminated veil of the northern lights, with their beautiful tentacles and fingers extended far beyond the eye can see. The resonance and movement of the aurora in the dark night skies create a beautiful contrast with the quietude and stillness of the rocks on the ground below.
